You Okay Doc?

Context & Challenge:

You Okay, Doc? is a mental health charity founded by doctors for doctors and other healthcare professionals in the NHS and beyond. They take care of us and of our loved ones and they need us to help care for them and their well-being.

It is currently estimated that one doctor dies by suicide approximately every 3-4 weeks in the UK. Compared to the general population, doctors are 2-5 times more likely to die by suicide. Support and provisions for healthcare professionals are often too difficult to access or are limited. You Okay, Doc?’s vision is that healthcare professionals can seek support, speak freely about mental health and be equipped to deal with the inevitable pressures faced.

Girl About Social was brought in to work alongside the charity’s founders to organise, manage and promote an ambitious 24-hour pop-up fitness challenge in London. Participants cycled and lifted weights throughout the day and into the night in order to help raise awareness and vital funds for You Okay, Doc?’s mission. Girl About Social not only managed this unique and logistically-challenging, round-the-clock event but also led the charge to promote the event online and on social media.

The Approach:

Girl About Social coordinated all logistics for the event including sourcing the venue, ordering branded merchandise, liaising with sponsors, and managing delivery, set-up & de-rig of equipment on the day. She also ran the social media campaign and collaborated with a videographer to create buzz online before, during, and after the event. This included keeping the audience updated and excited throughout the entirety of the 24-hour event on Instagram.

The Results:

The fitness challenge raised a whopping £17,534 for the charity and generated huge buzz and awareness online for You Okay Doc?’s mission.
